Condition: Very Good. New York: Fan-C-Pack Co., n.d., ca. 1930s. Set of two packs of playing cards (52 cards a piece, complete), one set adorned with a Godey's fashion plate printed within pink border, the other pack adorned with a different plate bordered in blue-green, housed together in original compartmented and capped pictorial box. Moderate wear and toning to box, else a Very Good example, playing cards in near fine condition. The fashion and literary magazine "Godey's Lady's Book" ran from 1830 through 1896, reaching a peak of 150,000 subscribers in the years leading up to the Civil War. Though long defunct by the time this pack of playing cards was produced, bound issues still rattle around the country even today, a nostalgic reminder of a more whale-bone corseted era.
