Published by Raphael Tuck and Sons, Ltd. No. 205. No date. assumed 1903 and a First Edition. Size: 4 x 6 3/4 inches. Un-paginated - 23 pages of text facing 23 very bright cromolithograph illustrations. Hardcover, beige paper covered boards, green cloth spine, red tiles, and an embossed frame enclosing a picture of a bear hugging a boy. The end paper is decorated with images of the boy and the animals within. A story about a little boy living in India that escapes the watchful eye of his ayah and, wandering into the forest, encounters a tiger, a bear, an elephant, a mongoose and snake. Condition: Good. The cover is worn, the corners are bumped such that the cardboard shows through. Paper has at some point to secure the front hinge and title page. this repair itself has aged; it affects the opening of the hinge and cpuld use replacing. There is very light foxing throughout. A neat dedication 'From Nursie'is written, in pen, on the first page. A rare book.
