Seit 1861 war er Mitglied der Pariser Grand Opéra. Dort wirkte er bei epochalen Ur- und Erst-Aufführungen mit (Afrikanerin, Hamlet, Carlos, Faust u. a.). Um 1880 trat er - nachdem ihn triumphale Gastspiele u. a. auch nach Wien und Berlin geführt hatten- von der Bühne ab und betätigte sich als Konzertsänger. Er komponierte auch selbst Lieder und verfaßte gesangspädagogische Werke. - Mit dem schönen, gestochenen Portrait Faures. - Einband etwas berieben, vorderer Einband-Decklel gering fleckig, sonst schönes Exemplar ohne Eintragungen oder Anstreichungen.
