His undergraduate study was in political science, history, and folklore at Binghamton University, and then he received his M.A. in American Folk Culture at the Cooperstown Graduate Programs of the State University of New York (1977), where he also studied social history, ethnology, and museum studies. In 1990, he was founding director of the Center for Pennsylvania Culture Studies (now the Pennsylvania Center for Folklore) and in 2007, the Center for Holocaust and Jewish Studies at thePennsylvania State University, Harrisburg. Her signature is on the verso of the title page, and appears to be hand-signed. There are reproductions in color & black & white of over 100 early postcards of Kalamazoo, Michigan on approximately 58 pages, two images per page. The paper-covered covers appear to have been made by the artist in a beautiful green textured paper on the spine with white textured paper on the covers. There is a pictorial pasteon on the front cover of a postcard with the book's title. The end papers are photo-illustrated. The interior papers are an interesting porous glossy stock. This book does not appear in any of the usual sources, and may be a one-off -- if not, it was undoubtely done in a small printing. It is an interesting and highly unusual Kalamazoo, Michigan item by a well-known artist. ; Color & B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; [58] pages; Signed by Author.
