Cloth. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good Indeed. First edition. The first edition of J. G. Ballard's award winning novel in the original dust wrapper. The first edition of this novel in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original clipped dust wrapper. Map of Shanghai in 1942 facing the contents page…. The novel draws from Ballard's personal experiences during World War II, and centres around a young British boy who lives in Shanghai around the time of the Pearl Harbor attack. It was awarded the James Tait Black Memorial Prize and was adapted into a film in 1987. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original clipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in lovely condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the top edge. Dust wrapper is a little creased with a couple of faint tidemarks to the upper extremities, and is slightly sunned to the spine, but is otherwise very smart. Fine. Pat Doyle; Fay Godwin (illustrator). book.
