The author also signed and inscribed the book on the dedication page. Inscription reads "To Mrs. Dean Kirks hoping she might enjoy my Russian stories/ May 16th 1952/ Tink in Taos." Author was the wife of Russian-American painter Nicolai Fechin who was one of the best portrait artists of his time. Alexandra was born in Russia in 1893, the daughter of the director of the Kazan School of Art. Her house in Taos became the Taos Art Museum and she is buried there. Rough rub on front free endpaper from improper sticker removal. Spine is slightly slanted and faded. No dust jacket. Protected in archival cover.
