Condition: Good. 2 volumi rilegati un un tomo in 4 (cm 20 x 28), pp. 178 con 1 ritratto all'antiporta dell'A. accanto al suo cavallo, disegnato da Basilio Lasinio e inciso dai fratelli Bordiga, e 6 tavole finali ripiegate incise all'acquaforte; (2) + paginein numerazione continua da 179 a 361 + (1) con 3 tavole finali di cui una ripiegata con gli Indici dei volumi. Un bifoglio e' compreso nella legatura e precede il frontespizio del I volume. Comprende un elenco manoscritto, con grafia antica, di titoli di opere a tema equitazione perlopiu' in francese. Seconda edizione (edizione originale del 1802 con il titolo "Elementi di cavallerizza") di questo celebre trattato di equitazione con ricco corredo iconografico. Le tavole raffigurano l'anatomia e le proporzioni del cavallo, il modo di guidarlo con le redini e con la biga, attrezzi, schema e illustrazionedelle operazionidi trotto, galoppo, passo, poggiata, montonata, capriola, la pianta del "Parco della Cavallerizza", dettagli dell'occhio e del piede. L'A. dedica curiosamente l'opera al suo cavallo: "A te, che, senza macchiarmi di adulazione posso chiamare valoroso, ed esperto cavallo consacro questo mio lavoro. Se la correlazione fra l'opera, ed il mecenate rende ragionevole la dedicatoria, chi ardira' di rimproverarmi?".La breve dedicatoria e' una parodia dei"microtesti d'intitolazione delle opere, in cui viene esibita, come in tutte le operazioni di questo tipo, una esatta conoscenza dei formulari retorici e perfino del principio cardine della convenienza cui ci si doveva attenere nella scelta del patrono" (Marco Paoli, "La dedica. (XI-XII-XIII-XIV). Sono 2 volumi, rilegati in uno. E' la migliore e più completa edizione di questa fortunata opera apparsa a Milano nel 1802 e poi nel 1805, ambedue molto ridotte anche nell' iconografia, rispetto alla nostra definitiva. Bella e non comune edizione non citata da Huth "Works on Horses and equitation". Anche Mennesier De La Lange "Bibliographie Hippique" cita altre edizioni, ma non la nostra. Una gora al margine bianco di varie carte all' inizio, che non tocca mai il testo. Qualche macchietta al margine di alcune tavole altrimenti bell' esemplare ben completo.
