Add to basketCondition: NEAR FINE. First printing. A book of cowboy poetry by this Oregon author, perhaps best known for his biography of Chief Joseph - while Fee acknowledges that these poems might not be his best writing, he is publishing them because of the interest in 'the Great West and its fine inheritance.' 78 pp plus 1 pp with an int…eresting offer if a reader is willing to rate the poems. Recently reissued in paperback, this remains rather uncommon in the hardcover first edition. Near fine in blue cloth with gilt lettering (some offsetting to the endpapers.).

CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: "Tells the life story of one of the most prominent Native American leaders, Chief Joseph. The book explores the life of Chief Joseph, who was the leader of the Nez Perce tribe in the late 19th century. It covers his early life, his rise to power, and his leadership during the Nez Perce War of 1877. The book also delves into the complex relationship between the Nez Perce and the United States government, as well as the larger context of westward expansion and the displacement of Native American tribes. It provides a detailed account of the events that led to the Nez Perce War, including the government's broken promises and the tribe's efforts to peacefully resist forced relocation. Through extensive research and interviews with descendants of Chief Joseph, Fee paints a vivid portrait of a remarkable leader who fought to protect his people's way of life and their land. The book also explores the legacy of Chief Joseph and his impact on Native American history and culture." (PUBLISHER). Inscribed by Author(s).
