Octavo, pp. [1-10] 11-318, inserted frontispiece (photographic portrait of the author), publisher's green cloth, front and spine panel stamped in gold. First edition. A posthumous collection of five stories, "The Man in the Blue Spectacles," "The Colonna Peril," "The Mystery of the Round House," "A Strange Step-mother" and "A Drama in the Air," all "first published some years ago in Christmas numbers of the BIRMINGHAM DAILY POST" (preface). "'The Man in the Blue Spectacles' tells how Godfrey Clive and his sister Helen fare in the world after the loss of their fortune, and 'The Mystery of the Round House' and "A Drama in the Air' show that the writer could tell a sensational as well as he could a social story" (THE BOOKSELLER, 3 August 1906). Hubin (1994), p. 278. Some scattered foxing, a very good copy. An uncommon, obscure collection of short fiction. (#170664).
