Add to basketPaperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the complexities of the Saxon army's entry into the Napoleonic invasion of Russia in 1812. Describing the political and military machinations that put the Saxon army under French control, the author takes a critical look at the role of General Johann von Thielmann and his belief in Saxon autonomy within a French-dominated alliance. The author also provides a frank assessment of how the Saxon army's leadership and its soldiers grappled with their subordination to an unpredictable power. This book is a valuable resource for those interested in Napoleonic history, and for scholars of military campaigns and strategy. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
