Hight was an American Actor. ALS. 1pg. 5" x 8". August 22 [No year]. Roxbury, MA. An autograph letter signed "Ferd. Hight" to Charles S. Greene, mentioning Edwin Booth, the legendary American actor and brother of presidential assassin John Wilkes Booth: "Yours of this date received. I was a member of the company at the National Theatre, Washington, D.C. in 1853. Commenced with Edwin Booth, I think, in Nov'r of that year, and remained until theatre was destroyed by fire in February 1857." The letter also mentions the historic National Theatre, which was founded in 1835 and was destroyed by fire and rebuilt five times during the 19th Century. Of the many stars to grace the stage of America's oldest touring theatre were Junius Brutus Booth, who appeared in the first season of the theatre, and his two brothers, Edwin Thomas and John Wilkes. The letter is in fine condition.
