Rebacked (repaired spine), repaired back cover, some rubbings on the front cover; internally pages show some yellowing to the edges, slight soiling on a couple of pages, two stamps and previous owner's signature. Striking art deco cover design by prominent Estonian modernist artist Peet Aren. Book's author Ferdinand Kull (1884-1957) was an Estonian diplomat and state public servant. He was arrested in 1907 for participating in revolutionary activities and spent three years in prisons in Tartu and Riga. After release from prison in 1910 he immigrated to Paris where stayed for seven years. Kull was the first Estonian diplomat, charming intellectual, who published his straight-thinking memoirs and ensured a remarkable place in people cultural memory. Present book was published in 1933 and compiles two of author's most noticeable writings. The first part named "Revolution and prisons. 1905-1910" describes young socialists crowding and life in prison. The second most notable part "With Estonian Bohemian Artists in Paris. 1910-1917" depicts most beautiful moments of free man's life. Here author's memories are written with positive and humorous outlook. Described genuine life moments and Estonian artists life in Paris.
