The development and extent of insignia introduced to Australian Army units from 1903 to 1966 is covered in depth and detail by the author in this volume, published for the Victorial Branch of the Military Historical Society of Australia, Text material is limited with the emphasis of the book placed on illustrations of the many dozens of insignia issued. Most illustration are b/w photos, with some represented by detailed drawings. 140 pages including index, illustrated throughout. Red hard covers with gilt front decoration,front and spine titles with few spots to front but VG, small ink name/address top corner FFEP, the last paragraph of the introduction has been ringed with a light ball pen line. ( Owing to the binding method used three early pages have become loose and care will be required in handling the book. However, all pages are present.) Otherwise text block excellent.

Written by Alfred N. Festberg, a German-born military historian who moved to Great Britain to escape the Nazi regime, and Barry John Videon, an Australian military historian and member of the Military Historical Society (UK), he is also a founding member of the Military Historical Society for Australia. With a letter sent from the desk of a Ross Campbell on 16th May 1974 to Major General Sir Rohan Delacombe, a senior British Army officer who, after retiring from the army, became the last British-born Governor of Victoria, Australia. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with a mark to the front board. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also very smart with light wear to the extremities and the odd small mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Near Fine. book.
