Signed 'Percy' and addressed to 'Dear Popie'. In good condition, lightly aged, with one dog-eared corner and folded twice for postage. Begins: 'Am not of course seek…ing any publicity over your book on St. James Theatre [published in 1958] only wish I could help more. / You know of course Allan Ainsworth [sic, for 'Aynesworth'] is alive the doyen of the Garrick Club! He played often with G[eorge]. A[lexander]. - in Pinero & Wilde. In the Prisoner [of Zenda, 1896] he was the young artist - charming looking young man. Another lovely young woman was in cast. Lily Hanbury! H. M. Vernon [sic, for W. H. Vernon] was Col. Sapt & Franklin Dyall young Fritz Von Tarlenheim [Dyall was in fact 'Josef', while 'Von Tarlenheim' was played by Arthur Royston] / There was a marvellous duel in prologue - [.] G. Signed 'Ian Hamilton'. 2pp, 12mo. On first leaf of bifolium. In good condition, lightly aged, wi…th a few pin holes from attachment of a no-longer-present enclosure. Folded twice. Possibly concerning shooting practice for the Harrow army cadets. Uncertain whether he has addressed Warner correctly, he writes that he has shown Warner's letter ('yours of 25th Feby') to Lord Roberts, 'who agrees with views expressed in enclosed letter from the Commandant - Hythe.' He continues: 'The District Inspector of Musketry, Home District, will shortly go down to see to this matter on the spot & the Commandant will also pay a visit to Harrow before anything is definitely decided'.

Pond of the Pond Lecture Bureau, following up on their discussion of a possible American lecture tour. He is about to leave for London and wonders if the financial arrangements will make it feasible for him to return for an extended tour. "I know that it is not easy to foresee with any certainty what sort of a success financially can be made and you quite understood my disinclination to return on an off chance."Major-General Sir Arthur Reginald Hoskins [1871-1942] was a senior British Army officer during the First World War. Hoskins served in the army from 1891 to 1923. Prior to World War I he saw active service In in the Dongola Expedition, the Mahdist War, the Second Boer War and the Somaliland Campaign. In September 1914 he was recalled from East Africa, where he was acting as Inspector of the Kings Africa Rifles, and joined the 8th Division, then engaged on the Western Front. He was given command of the 8th Brigade in 1915 and in early 1916 was transferred to the East African Campaign. He became Commander-in-Chief of British Forces in East Africa in 1917, later serving as commander of the 3rd (Lahore) Division in Mesopotamia and Palestine for the remainder of the war.
