The Chicago 7 were a group of activists charged with conspiracy, inciting a riot, and other offenses related to protests against the Vietnam War during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The defendants were Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden, Rennie Davis, David Dellinger, John Froines, and Lee Weiner. Initially, Bobby Seale, co-founder of the Black Panther Party, was also included but was later tried separately. The trial, lasting from September 1969 to February 1970, became a landmark case highlighting political dissent and judicial conduct. Five were convicted of inciting a riot but later had their convictions overturned on appeal due to judicial bias and procedural errors. Signed.
