"The Sense of the Court Truly Delivered" Fitz-Gibbons, John [d. 1780]. The Reports of Several Cases Argued and Adjudged in the Court of King's Bench at Westminster; With Some Special Cases in the Courts of Chancery, Common Pleas and Exchequer. In the I, II, III, IV, And V Years of His Present Majesty King George II. With Two Tables; The One of the Names of the Cases, The Other of the Principal Matters Therein Contained. [London]: Printed by E. and R. Nutt, And R. Gosling, 1732. [iv], 321, [15] pp. Folio (12-1/4" x 7-3/4"). Recent period-style quarter calf over marbled boards, lettering piece and raised bands to spine, endpapers renewed. Moderate toning, slightly heavier in places, occasional crinkling and faint dampspotting to head of text block, light foxing in a few places. $350. * Only edition. Covering the years 1728 to 1733, this set of reports appears to have enjoyed equal amounts of approval and disapproval. A note by John Burrow, cited in Wallace, offers a moderate (and more accurate) assessment: "There are, indeed, errors in it; but upon the whole the cases seem to be clearly stated, the argument of different counsel at different times clearly, forcibly, and yet briefly represented, and the sense of the court truly delivered.": Wallace, The Reporters 428. English Short-Title Catalogue T44780.
