There is soiling to the page edges and the pages are mostly clean with scattered light soiling and page 19 has a tear that once was repaired with tape. This is a solid reading copy. Kurt Wiese (April 22, 1887 ? May 27, 1974) was a German-born book illustrator, who wrote and illustrated 20 children's books and illustrated another 300 for other authors. He was a Caldecott and Newbery Award Winner. A scarce children's title.

Book has forward lean. Boards are mildly warped. Unclipped jacket has moderate edgewear with chips, tears, and creasing. Heavy tanning to spine. Mild water staining to surfaces. Notable rubbing and marking all over.
