Dust jacket shows light wear, small chip along top edge of front panel. 1967 10th printing. ; From dust jacket flap: Here is something different from the general run of rewritten Bible stories for boys and girls - a book authentic and informative without being dry and academic. It is a dramatic and convincing narrative of an enslaved people led toward nationhood by a virile and unforgettable leader. Each chapter of the book has two parts. One part gives the story as skillfully and vividly told by one of the country's leading biblical scholars, and the other the "Story as it is in the Bible." Boys and girls have thus before them parallel narratives: biblical source material, and the new point of view in interpreting it. ; 0.6 x 9.1 x 6 Inches; 146 pages.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. K. W. Coales (illustrator). 1st Edition. This is a very readable book - especially for those about to read the Bible for the first time. Dr Flight provides quotations from the Authorized King James version and gives his own historical background and explanations for the stories. There's a foreword by the American author and Yale Professor of English Literature, William Lyon Phelps, and an Introduction by the author. The book is well illustrated by uncredited artists, although the black and white work, including everything from small chapter headings to full page drawings, is by K.W. (Kathleen Wallis) Coales. There is also a color frontispiece and six further color plates that look to be from at least two different artists. This is a very good copy indeed with minor wear to spine ends, a hint of rubbing to the color pastedown on the upper board, and minimal browning to the map endpapers and edges. An excellent copy.
