Very minor shelf-wear or rubbing to extremities, else fine. The dustjacket is unclipped ($5.00) and in very good condition with minor wear to edges including two short closed tears to top edge and a small ding to left-hand side of front panel. Now protected in a new clear Mylar wrapper. A lovely copy overall.

Title page inscribed in ink "To John F. G. Stokes.George R. Noyes, October 22, 1948." In the dust jacket, printed black on pale blue textured paper, with edge-wear, light foxing and soiling. Please see photos. The Polish painter, stage designer and poet wrote four dramas on classical subjects, this one first published in 1897. Stokes was an Australian ethnologist who made extensive surveys of the Hawaiian Islands in the early 20th C. Dust jacket is now preserved in a clear, removable archival sleeve.
