[xvi], 408pp, with colour plate frontispiece, colour vignette on the title page and further engravings on steel illustrating the text, all by John Leech. Red buckram cloth-covered boards with gilt decoration and lettering front and spine. 9vo. Volume is neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. Still in original glassine wrapper: the wrapper itself is a little shelf worn and creased on the inner front flap. The R S Surtees Society is dedicated to reprinting the novels of Robert Smith Surtees (1805-1864). They describe Surtees as "England's greatest novelist of the hunting field".

Large lithographic view of the house and gardens and another fine lithographic plate, view from the grounds, and a folding hand-coloured map at the end, (slightly creased). Some light marking and creasing throughout. Publishers printed grey wrappers slightly chipped and creased at the edges. the catalogue has been folded down the middle as is usual with these sale catalogues. The spine is very slightly chipped and is split. Lower corner of the rear cover is missing. Covers dusty and slightly marked. Still a pretty good copy. Rare sale catalogue with two fine lithographic views and a hand-coloured map.
