Originally published by Sir Issac Pitman & Sons Ltd. this 1933 issue is bound in a fine leather half-calf binding. A lovely original example. Printed at the Pitman Press. New Era was a division of Pitmans and sold via subscription.

This wonderful informative period book, is in excellent condition and as its a used book, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. Published in Great Britain by The New Era Publishing Co. Ltd, no publishing date mentioned in the book, I would suggest it was published around the 1950's to 1961, originally first published in 1931 by Sir Isaac Pitman & Sons Ltd, with later editions published in 1950, 1951, 1958 and 1961. 663 pages, all intact, clean and very readable, and nice tight binding. 4to. First edition of this extensive work issued by noted labor advocate, hairdresser, and reform politician, intended not only to offer the latest Roaring 20's hair styles, techniques, products, and equipment, but also offering advice on electrotherapy, treating parasitic & bacterial infections, and make-up for cinema industry. In addition, to encouraging certification and trade school degrees for hairdressing and cosmetologists, the author details how to renovate wax mannequins, arrange properly lighted window displays, hygiene and sanitation, as well as business operation advice. Foan (1887-1935) frequently wrote on hairdressing, encouraged advantageous labor laws for hairdressers and cosmetologist, and was even imprisoned during World War I as a conscientious objector.
