This catalogue raisonne authortatively documents and fully illustrates her works in limited-edition prints, books, and portfolios. Sample preparatory drawings and proofs with artist notes, are a featured allowing for a more complete understanding of Van Hoesen's art. Van Hoesen studied art at Standford University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948. She also attended Escuela de Pintura y Escultura de la Escuela Esmeralda, Mexico City and California School of Fine Arts (san Francisco Art Institute). After graduating from Stanford, she traveled to France and studied at Ecole des Beaux Arts de-Fontainebleau, Academie Julian, and Academie de la Grande Chaumiere.
