The book is heavy on references, making it a great bibliography as well as a good overview of the man who "ruled" the Oregon Territory. Indexed; illustrated; quarto; brown faux leather boards with gilt lettering; presumed first edition (no statement of later printing, which Ye Galleon Press would normally do on a colophon).

McLoughlin, a primary figure in the early settlement and fur-trading years of the Oregon Country, is described through the different phases of his life and his important family and professional relations are treated in a clarifying fashion, giving a picture of the man as a husband and father.
