Most vols with binder's instruction for plate placement. Collated plates, BUT: minor glitch in vol 4 plate numbering. Plates correctly labeled but numbered wrong. There are two plate ones, twos, threes & fours and one each of 5, 6, 7 & 8; for a total of 12; all 12 are different views or portraits. No other vol with similar fault. Covers with minor wear, few hinges tender, few spine ends pulled some. Still a clean, attractive set with uniformly tight bindings. Silk page markers. Contents quite good, few margin tears & chips, pastedowns w minor glue browning. Owner's names front & back, misc pencilled notations front & rear. Notations mostly about # of plates, etc. Text NEAR FINE: no foxing, soiling, staining; perhaps some very minor aging. Map with few fold line tears in the margins. VERY SCARCE! No copies sold in the last 100+ years in the world's major book auctions, according to American Book Prices Current (ABPC). WorldCat finds only three copies. VG set.
