In a Method Entirely New. [London]: Printed by E. And R. Nutt, And R. Gosling, (Assigns of E. Sayer, Esq;) for T. Woodward, 1739. [xxxii], 284, [20] pp. Includes one-page publisher advertisement. Apparently the first book arranged chronologically, this digested compilation of legislation and related case law was intended for sheriffs and justices of the peace. Each act is followed by a set of illustrative cases. Foley plan also demonstrates the evolution of poor laws. "In a word, from a view of the progress of the several Acts of Parliament, the reader sees in an historical light the particular inconveniences each was to guard against, and so enters into the wisdom of the Legislature" [vi]. This was a well-received work. Later editions were published in 1743, 1751 and 1758. Not in Goldsmiths.' English Short-Title Catalogue T113188.
