Sin encuadernar.En 1739, la administración española mantenía un monopolio en el comercio con sus colonias en el Nuevo Mundo, aunque la economía del país fue incapaz de producir artículos de consumo suficientes para satisfacer la demanda. Las necesidades de las colonias fueron cubiertas por comerciantes ingleses, en gran parte de contrabando. Esta situación condujo a la Guerra del Asiento, llamada también Guerra de la Oreja de Jenkins y a los ataques en territorios españoles por los Almirantes Anson y Vernon.
