Leineneinband. George Forestier (* 13. Januar 1921) war angeblich ein deutsch-französischer Dichter, dessen Bücher äußerst erfolgreich ab 1952 erschienen. 1955 stellte sich heraus, dass sein Leben und Werk von Karl Emerich Krämer frei erfunden worden waren. (Auszug aus Wikipedia). 1952 erschienen unter dem Titel "Ich schreibe mein Herz in den Staub der Straße" Gedichte eines George Forestier. Der Autor, in einem Nachwort als im Dschungel Indochinas verschollener Legionär ausgewiesen, erreichte Unerwartetes, ja Sensationelles; bis Oktober 1955 wurden 21000 Exemplare verkauft, die Kritik gab sich enthusiastisch. Und dann, nach Erscheinen des zweiten Bandes "Stark wie der Tod ist die Nacht ist die Liebe", kam es zum literarischen Börsenkrach: der Legionärs-Mythos platzte, der Autor erwies sich als Verlagslektor mit dem bürgerlichen Namen Dr. Karl Emerich Krämer.
