Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Harold Jones (illustrator). 1st Edition. Apparent First of this Edition ( 'First published in the United States of America by Franklin Watts', above that 'this edition Victor Gollancz Ltd., 1963' ). Illustrated with black-and-white drawings by Harold Jones. I have discounted the price due to a small tear off the outer edge of the pages beginning with the half-title page and ending on page 22. The tear is far from the print (see photos). The book is otherwise in excellent edition. You can see the covers in the photos. They are exceptionally clean. The black lettering on the front and spine is nicely bright. There is a little bit of crinkling at the top and bottom edges of the spine. The cover edges look terrific, no rubbing. The cover corners look very good as well. The top and middle page edges are very clean. There are two small tan stains on the bottom page edge but neither has any impact on the actual pages. The book is square and the spine is straight. The binding is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The inside covers and end papers form the same blue and brown illustration. They are all in excellent condition and very clean. All of the pages are exceptionally clean. Scrolling through, I'm not finding any instances of soiling. The pages are lightly, but uniformly toned. I'm not finding any conspicuous creasing, no turned-down corner creases, no placeholder creases. Some of the later pages have a teeny tiny crinkle just above the tips of their bottom corner. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. The dust jacket is in excellent condition. You can see it in the first few photos. It is very clean. There's only one tiny closed tear (off the top edge of the spine). I have always had the jacket in a fitted protective cover. The flaps are also in excellent shape and very clean. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all.
