Sheet Music
Vintage classical vocal sheet music issued as part of the Pathways of Song educational series edited by Frank La Forge and Will Earhart. Large-format edition for high and low voice with piano accompaniment, bilingual Italian/English text, and interpretive introduction regarding performance tempo and phrasing. Condition: Very Good. Complete and firmly bound with light general toning and mild edge wear. Small corner creases and minor handling wear to wrappers; no major tears or detached sections observed. Interior music pages remain clean and highly legible, with pencil performance markings and a contemporary ownership inscription on the first music page. Decorative modernist cover design with red circular motifs remains especially attractive and displayable. A solid example of late-1930s American classical vocal pedagogy publishing. 1938 Witmark issue from the Pathways of Song series; not a later reprint. Publisher imprint on rear wrapper: M. Witmark & Sons, RCA Building, New York 20, N.Y. George Frideric Handel (1685-1759) was one of the Baroque era's greatest composers, celebrated for his operas, oratorios, and vocal works including Messiah. Atalanta, first performed in 1736, contains several lyrical arias that remained popular with vocal instructors and recital singers well into the twentieth century. Frank La Forge (1879-1953), a noted American accompanist and vocal editor, helped adapt and popularize European art songs for English-speaking performers.
