(some color) Reference is made to Brigadier General Ashton Monhart assuming command on 31 May, 1960, and to the Training Center being activated in August 1961. The Fort is located about 6 miles from Colorado Springs. Its predecessor, Camp Carson, was formed in May, 1942. The 10th Mountain Division trained there, and approximately 10, 000 POW's were interned at the Fort. This bookhighlights Company G, 2d Battalion, 1st Training Regiment (graduation date of March 30, 1962).
