Edition originale rare de cette thèse sur la tétanie présidée par Trousseau. Fosse expose la symptomatologie et le diagnostic de la tétanie avec la confirmation du diagnostic par le si…gne de Trousseau (compression du bras par un lien circulaire). Ce signe avait été signalé dans la Gazette des Hôpitaux, mais ne sera développé par Trousseau que l'année suivante, dans sa "Clinique médicale de l'Hôtel-Dieu de Paris" (cf. Garrison & Morton, 4830). Les chapitres suivants sont consacrés à l'étiologie, l'historique (pp 17-22), la nature et le siège de la tétanie, le traitement (notamment par le chloroforme préconisé par Aran). Cinq observations sont rapportées.
