Susan Foster (illustrator). Good condition with light overall rubbing and soil to covers, with faint vertical crease near lower right front corner and slight corner bend upper right. Minor abrasion and small nick at top of spine, rear cover with two small areas of surface loss where old labels were removed, and faint spot near bottom edge; front cover is slightly torn at staples. First edition in printed wrappers. Light dealer pencil markings, easily erasable.

Boards have a little light bumping to corners and spine. Page edges are browned with scattered spotting. Endpapers are browned with previous owners name and date to front free endpaper and light marking from tape used to secure a protective cover. The date 1947 has been added to the copyright page. Pages are browned but otherwise unmarked. Jacket has some chipping to the spine, light surface creasing and a three inch section has been cut away from the bottom corner of the front flap. Illustrated by William Foster and Roland Green.

Slight handling mark to rear cover, else clean. Light dealer pencil markings, easily erasable. Provenance: acquired in Rockville, Maryland with a large group of poetry chapbooks, some explicitly inscribed to or annotated as to "Myra Sklarew." Given the local context (Rockville/MD) and multiple comparanda from the same lot, the recipient of this copy is presumed to be the poet Myra Sklarew, though the inscription in this volume reads only "Myra." Photo of the inscription is provided.
