Moderate soiling, staining and tanning to boards due to age and handling; light bump to corners and along edges; all edges gilt; protected with a mylar cover. Front hinge is stressed and starting . Minor liquid stain at front flyleaf but does not affect other interior pages. Binding is cracked throughout but still holding; one page loose and laid in; all pages appear to be present. Light age-toning throughout with minor stains. Beautifully illustrated with NO markings. Pasadena's finest independent new and used bookstore since 1992.

Title page printed in blue and red, with blue border. While the engraved score is printed by Leader & Cock, 63 New Bond Street, London, the two colour front cover is printed by W. Brettell, 36 New Bond Street, London. Price 2s. Arranged in the Key of F as vocal solo with a refrain for four mixed voices and with piano accompaniment. First line of song reads: Dere was an old Nigga, dey calle'd him Uncle Ned, He's dead long a_go!, long a_go! Chorus Line reads: Hang up de fiddle and de bow, No more hard work for poor Old Ned He's gone whar de good Nig_ga's go. Footnote states that: When the Alto is taken by a male voice it should be sung an octave higher. With the blind stamp of Hime & Son, Music Seller, Church St. Liverpool. A very good copy of this rare imprint of an early Stephen Foster song without any library stamps, inscriptions or other markings.
