A circa 1946 Presidential and Diplomatic photo album from Santiago, Chile, containing 22 professional photographs of a diplomatic event - possibly a Foreign Ambassador presenting his official credentials - after their party arrived at La Monda Palace by horse-drawn carriage. Red padded covers over boards, oblong 16mo size (6.5 tall x 10 inches wide), pp. [29] with twenty-nine 5x7 inch wide B&W gelatin silver photos, all pasted recto onto manila colored card leaves. Volume w. hinges cracked, cover with wear, stains and a few bumps, spine cover segment lacking, card leaves modestly curled, all leaves with the photographer's hand stamp "Foto Baeza A. Prat. Tel. 67607". González was the 24th President of Chile and held office from November 1946 to November 1952. A very uncommon, and historical set of documentary images. "In 1915, joined the youth wing of the Radical Party, later becoming a member of the Radical Assembly of La Serena. González was involved in protests against the military government established in 1924 by Luis Altamirano. In 1927, he made declarations against President Carlos Ibáńez and had to go into hiding. Once Ibáńez's government fell in 1931, González was able to resume his political activities and was president of the Radical Party from 1931 to 1937." wiki.
