The enterprise started so modestly has become one of the greatest of its king in the Commonwealth, with offices, or representation, in all the State and links overseas. In its growth it has acquired interests probably never envisaged by the founders, yet its association with the past is so close that it still handles lines bearing the same brands as those which David & James had on their shelves that opening day in 1854 81pp.

There are 27 plates showing the engines , wagons parts etc from photographs. There is a printed key in columns to each side of the illustration giving a number and identifying the part with a line to where located on the engine, wagon etc Contents clean and tight with no inscriptions. Cord bound as issued in the original dark red card covers title in white to upper cover, 7cm split to spine lower edge, the covers clean and tight. The cover has been folded over the years down the centre leaving crease mark.
