Add to basketSoftcover. Condition: Very Good+. First Edition. Fox, Head, & Co. operated a co-operative ironworks in Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England. This pamphlet is a transcript of a meeting held in 1871 with the 528 workmen, their wives and family members to explain the state of the company, the events of 1870 which affected the company…, and a plan to distribute a bonus of 3 1/4% of the the wages paid to the workers in 1871 in a profit sharing plan based on business income. Also discussed are employee ownership shares in a worker-owned co-operative store. Mr. Fox also expresses his unhappiness with trade unions saying they they create an antogonistic relationship rather than a partnership between workers and management. "Printed for Private Circulation, Printed in U.S.A." appears on the bottom edge of the front wrapper--it is not clear why this publication was printed in the U.S.A. or to whom it was privately circulated. It has the look and feel of an early publication. Original publishers brown paper, stapled wrappers (covers) with black cover lettering. There is a small chip to the lower corner of the front wrapper, else this is a clean, tight and unmarked pamphlet. No other printing date appears in the booklet, so it is assumed it was printed in the USA at about the same time it as the title page date: Feb 24th, 1872. This original appears to be quite scarce.
