Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Not Stated (illustrator). First edition. A first edition copy of this rare and lovely fairy tale, illustrated throughout. The first edition of this very scarce work in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. All edges gilt. A charming Victorian fairy tale recounting the adventures of Pixie and her friend Tom, with lovely illustrations. The photographic frontispiece depicts a portrait of a young girl who perhaps inspired the character of Pixie. This is a vanishingly rare work, held by only three libraries: University of Oxford Libraries, University of Cambridge Libraries and the National Library of Scotland. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally smart, with some marks to the boards and fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd handling mark throughout. Very Good. book.
