Il conte Francesco Cassi (1778-1846) spese buona parte della sua vita e del suo patrimonio per realizzare qual giardino in onore e memoria dell'amato cugino Giulio Perticari (1779-1822). Cassi volle anche realizzare un monumento a Giulio, su disegno del Poletti e del Tadolini ed altri artisti. Il progetto era a disposizione degli associati che, abbonandosi a caro prezzo alla Farsaglia, contribuirono alle spese dell'allestimento dei giardini. La direzione dell'impresa fu affidata in modo onorifico al principe romano Pietro degli Odescalchi, gia' grande amico di Giulio. Salvatore Betti, Leopoldo Staccoli, Vincenzo Bonta' furono segretari e garanti della Societa' e i contributi degli associati furono versati nel locale Monte di Pieta' con una contabilita' pubblica. L'elenco degli associati comprende piu' di 1.500 nomi.
