With the acquisition in recent years of multiple Egyptological libraries (those of Prof. Herman te Velde; Prof. Mathieu Heerma van Voss, Prof. Baudouin van de Walle; Prof. Michel Malaise; Prof. Herman De Meulenaere; Egyptologist Jacobus Visser, and former Trustee of the Egypt Exploration Society, Stewart Dale White), we now hold several thousands of rare offprint monographs which were collected over many years by these scholars. Very limited in number when originally issued and fragile by nature, most are by now practically extinct and the scarce survivors are much sought after. We took upon ourselves to collate, catalogue, and identify each item in accordance with Beinlich-Seeber or Annual Egyptological Bibliography, in the hope that this collection will prove useful for scholars and collectors alike. Voir le compte-rendu de Raymond Janin in « Revue des études byzantines » 1927 : « Le travail de l'aut…eur [.] dénote une vaste érudition et un examen attentif des textes. Dans le premier volume, après avoir indiqué le but de la magie chez les anciens Egyptiens : sorcelleries pour les besoins de la vie terrestre, pour ceux de la vie posthume, pour la communication avec les dieux et les esprits des défunts, il étudie les moyens magiques : formules, remèdes, amulettes, etc., puis il essaye d'établir la relation entre la magie et la religion, entre la magie et la science. Deux chapitres sont consacrés à la magie chez les Coptes. Enfin, l'auteur étudie la relation entre les magies égyptienne et grecque à l'époque gréco-romaine. Le second volume renferme les textes magiques recueillis dans les pyramides, dans les tombeaux, sur les cercueils, sur les grimoires divers, etc. M. Lexa a cru pouvoir y ajouter certains textes coptes, comme les Apophtegmata Patrum aegyptiorum, qui racontent des merveilles attribuées à des moines. Dans la plupart d'entre eux nous ne trouvons pas trace de magie, mais seulement des miracles, légendaires ou non. Il est vrai que l'auteur range délibérément les miracles dans les pratiques de la magie. Le troisième volume renferme 71 planches très artistiques qui reproduisent des amulettes, des textes magiques, etc. L'ouvrage est édité avec le soin que la librairie Geuthner apporte à ses publications. ».
