It was issued in the series "Umělecké snahy" (artistic endeavors) by the publisher Koči from 1915 to 1922, and included artworks, essays, and theory. Here Bilek presents portraits of Czech notables throughout history, (Hus, Komenský, Smetana, Purkyně, Březina, etc.). Frantisek Bilek (1872-1941) was a renowned sculptor and architect who also was a graphic artist. He was an associate member of the Sursum movement, a mystical spiritualist movement in the arts which flourished from 1908-1911 in Bohemia. In the present copy seven plates have light stains on lower right margins, none affecting images. OCLC finds no holdings of this work worldwide outside of the Czech Republic.
