Frederic Franklin (1914-2013) was a British-American ballet dancer, choreographer, and director who had a successful career with many ballet companies and was known as a quick study and had exceptional memory. Franklin danced with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo from 1937-1951. He was the company's ballet master from 1944-1952 and was also the premier danseur until his departure in 1951 (he rejoined later until its final closing in 1968). In 1952, Franklin co-founded the Slavenska-Franklin Ballet with fellow dancer Mia Slavenska. Their company had twenty-one dancers and Alexandra Danilova joined as a co-star. They toured Japan and the Philippines, but within two years, the company closed and Danilova traveled to Dallas, Texas to teach and then went back to New York. Franklin went on as an advisor and a director for different American ballet companies such as the National Ballet of Washington, D.C. and the American Ballet Theatre. Inscribed by Author(s).
