Guérinet sein Gesamtwerk zusammen, indem er alle Ausführungen, aber auch alle Zeichnungen und Skizzen Hottenroths in einen zweiteiligen Band brachte - und damit ein Kompendium erschuf, das es auf dem deutschen Markt nie gegeben hat - und in dieser Qualität auch niemals geben wird.Kein Nachdruck wird die Pracht dieser Chromolithographien jemals annähernd erreichen können. So sind die Darstellungen in leuchtenden, frischen Farben auf festes Kartonpapier der Tafeln gedruckt - und hier in einem französischen festen und immer noch intakten Einband gebunden. Kaum gebräunt, kaum Stockfleckchen (und wenn, dann nur im Text, die Tafeln nicht betroffen), kaum Gebrauchsspuren, im Block außergewöhnlich schönes, wohlerhaltenes, unbeschnittenes und in leuchtenden Farben gedrucktes Exemplar.

Friedrich Hottenroth (1840-1917) was a German painter and lithographer and a highly influential researchers of traditional costumes and customs. This is the first French edition of a compendium of separate works that had previously appeared in Germany. At the time it was published it was the first complete works of the artist and it remains a fabulous?reference book with thousands of examples of historical costumes, weapons, and tools, illustrated in full color.
