L'ouvrage compte une quarantaine de Fables et 24 gravures en noir dont un frontispice. Ces gravures… sont ainsi présentées sur la page titre: 24 dessins de Victor Adam gravés par Best et Hotelin. L'Auteur s'est un peu effacé dans nos mémoires mais ses fables sont de qualité. De la page 5 à la page 14, il a habilement rassemblé les textes officiels qui vantent leur valeur pédagogique; en conclusion de cette série d'éloges: la commande de 500 exemplaires passée par le Ministre de l'Instruction publique de "500 volumes qui seront distribués dans les bibliothèques scolaires de communes"! Il s'agit d'un de ces nombreux petits livres de Prix, produits en série à cette époque pour les Institutions religieuses. Livres "économiques", certes, mais d'une fabrication soignée. Sur le 1er plat, présence d'un médaillon doré estampé : Institution MASSIN, Académie de Paris, Université de France. Très bon état.
