A long letter about the problems he was exercising with one of his still life paintings and that he was not prepared to past it on until it improved. loan of a picture after it had been displayed at the Royal Academy. Frederic James Shields 1833 - 1911 was a British artist, illustrator, and designer closely associated with the Pre-Raphaelites through Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Ford Madox Brown. Size is 178 x 110mm. Condition is good. Light folding crease. Repair to rear page effecting the text. Ref19209. Signed by Author(s).

Any prints by this company are scarce. Some have found their way into prestigious collections e.g. The British Museum & The Wellcome Library. Frederic James Shields (March 14, 1833February 26, 1911), was a British artist, illustrator and designer closely associated with the Pre-Raphaelites through Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Ford Madox Brown. This title not mentioned on the net. 15" by 22", though the actual images are 6".5 by 8.5". Marginal damp stain. Book.
