      Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. This is the 1968 Exhibition Catalog for a show of the works of James McNeill Whistler mounted by The Art Institute of Chicago. The catalogue, which was edited by Frederick A. Sweet, includes paintings, pastels, watercolors, drawings, etchings and lithographs by Whistler, as well as a few ancillary works depicting Whistler by others. The show ran at The Art Institute of Chicago from from January 13, to February 25, 1968. It also ran at Munson - Williams - Proctor Institute in Utica, N. Y. from March 17 to April 28, 1968. There are at least 5 color plate illustrations and numerous black-and-white illustrations. TITLE : James McNeill Whistler - Exhibition Catalogue : Paintings, Pastels, Watercolors, Drawings, Etchings, Lithographs. EDITOR : Frederick A. Sweet IMPRINT : The Art Institute of Chicago / Munson - Williams - Proctor Institute PLACE : Chicago, Illinois / Utica, New York DATE : January - April, 1968 STATUS : OP PHYSICAL DETAILS : Paperback format. Color and monochrome illustrations; 131 pages; 7" x 10", stiff, buff colored wraps, sewn. The front cover has a color paste-down, paper illustration, reproducing a Whistler Painting depicting a young woman holding a fan standing in front of a hearth above which is a mirror reflecting her visage. Whistler in capital letters printed in black under the picture. James McNeill Whistler printed in gray on spine. Ocher end-papers. CONDITION -- VERY GOOD -- This is a previously owned book that is clean and presentable with the following imperfections noted :: EXTERIOR -- Moderate weathering and a touch of smudging to the covers; text-block edges display foxing and a touch of discoloration. BINDING -- Solid INTERIOR -- There is scattered light foxing (discoloration) just discernible about the edges, else all is clean and unmarked , with but mild signs of handling.
