Condition: Very Good. ORIGINAL INK DRAWING. Signed in ink at corner 'F. Carter 1908. 20 by 30cms tall. On stiff white card board. Shows men and women, mostly young, in party clothes being led in a dance holding candles. A slightly sinister grinning figure in the foreground plays a viola with a masked harlequin behind him. Old pe…ncilled address of one Ernest Saunders, South Park, Gerrards Cross on rear. Label from 1990 Christie's sale and note of a title on rear 'THE DANCE OF THE MEN WITH SAD FACES'. Slightly misleading as they do not appear sad although heads are inclined downwards and the dancers are mostly women. Very attractive and slightly sinister, classic Frederick Carter. Very good indeed. Signedes.
