The author was a Catholic priest who took 9 months of leave from his duties to travel throughout Europe and the Near East in the 1930s. This book reads like a travelogue as he makes way from place to place with no planned schedule, only to see the people, the culture, the languages, and absorb all the atmosphere. Full of personal photographs, his journey was across the length and breadth of Europe, from the Rhine to the Ebro, from North Cape to Naples, from Killarney to the Island of Rhodes, and Palestine and Europe.
