Paperback. Condition: Very Good-. First Edition. B & W photos; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 95 pages; 1958 Frederick Fell, Inc. Trade size paperback in glazed pictorial covers over a side stapled binding. This early pulp quality publication profiles the new Rock n" Roll music - the big names, the historical precedents, the aspiring next things, doo-wop, blues, gospel, crooners, Alan Freed, Elvis etc etc. Profiles over 100 musical groups and "200 Stars" according to cover copy. Profiles include b&w photos. Also includes chapters on "How Rock n' Roll got Started," Alan Freed, Elvis Presly and with lists of the national disc jockeys who play the new music and the record labels putting it on vinyl. Lid it at front are two period post cards from Lebanon PA - one from a radio station featuring Elvis Presly and the other from a short lived Doo-Wop artist, Lynn Christie. Soundly bound and clean. Shelf bump top front corner with stress crease and ruffling to cover and a shallow triangular chip missing from the top margin corner of the first few pages. Page stock is of poor quality and with expected moderate general toning. The glossary of rock n' roll terms at rear is special. Quite uncommon with only 12 or so Insitutional holding found on Worldcat. A nice early rock n' roll relic. VG-.
