The striking Art Deco-inspired cover prominently features a studio portrait of Bing Crosby framed within a theatrical design promoting the film and its featured songs. The collaboration between lyricist Ralph Freed and composer Burton Lane represents Hollywood's Golden Age of film songwriting, when publishers produced attractive souvenir editions for moviegoers and home musicians. Copies tied directly to Bing Crosby's film career remain highly collectible among enthusiasts of classic Hollywood, American popular music, and vintage sheet music. Very Good Condition. Complete and structurally sound with light edge wear, scattered rubbing, and a small corner crease at the upper right of the first interior page. Spine remains intact with no major separations. Interior pages are clean with only light age toning expected for the period. Rear cover remains clean with modest handling wear. An attractive, well-preserved example. Ralph Freed (1907-1973) was one of Hollywood's leading lyricists during the 1930s and 1940s. He collaborated with many of the era's foremost composers and wrote lyrics for numerous MGM and Paramount productions. Among his best-known songs are 'The Lady Is a Tramp' (additional adaptations), 'Beyond the Blue Horizon,' and many popular film tunes performed by Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, and other major stars. Burton Lane (1912-1997) was an acclaimed American composer whose career bridged Hollywood and Broadway. He later achieved lasting fame for composing the Broadway musical Finian's Rainbow (1947), featuring the standards 'Old Devil Moon' and 'How Are Things in Glocca Morra?' Lane worked extensively in film during the 1930s before becoming one of Broadway's most respected composers.

This copy is in fine condition the pictorial front cover features Micky rooney and Judy Garland in a scene from 'Babes on Broadway' This piece of music came from a substantial library amassed by Maude Beerbohm Tree and later added to by her daughters Viola (1884-1938 and Felicity (189…4-1978) Helen Maud Holt (5 October 1863 - 7 August 1937), professionally known as Mrs Beerbohm Tree and later Lady Tree, was an English actress. She was the wife of the actor manager Herbert Beerbohm Tree and the mother of Viola Tree, Felicity Tree and Iris Tree. After early stage appearances beginning in 1883, Mrs Tree married and established a theatrical partnership with her husband, in which they appeared in revivals of classic plays and productions of new plays, first at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket and then at Her Majesty's Theatre. Her performances in serious roles were well received, but she was most celebrated for her work in comedy, from Shakespeare to new works by Wilde and others. After her husband's death in 1917, Lady Tree continued to act steadily for almost two decades more until towards the end of her life, in plays and some films, making her last stage appearance in 1935. This is just one of a great many pieces of music and scores that I am selling from this collection on this site. Ref SM7 Size: 4pp.
