Paperbacks. Condition: Reading copies (Fair to Good). 1sts thus. Five stories of money, mystery, murder, and a whole bunch of other words that don't start with "m". The Biggers title features Charlie Chan, the Freeman gives us Dr. Thorndyke, the Quentin offers a Peter Duluth mystery, the Simenon presents what the New York Times called "a first-rate study in abnormal psychology", and the Nielsen details the story of a guy offered $5,000 to marry a beautiful woman (who, naturally, is reported missing the next day). I haven't read this one just yet, but the opening to Chapter One will make sure that I do: "The way Casey figured it, life was a sour deal. It was something with a beginning you didn't ask for, an ending you couldn't help, and nothing in between that would sell even at a charity auction. But it came in a package, like a Christmas tie, and once the package was opened you were stuck with it." These are not in the slightest collectible, and might even be described as beaten up, but are offered now as they were when first published: as decent mysteries by accomplished writers. Size: 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. Book.
